“Greenery signifies beginnings: a fresh New Year; healthier food resolutions and growing vegetarian trends; grass and the outdoors during spring and summer.”
With Spring right around the corner, we are loving PANTONE’s Color of the Year. We are seeing it in the form of succulents and embroidered cacti on clothing. This color not only incorporates apparel but everything from kitchen wares to home décor.
This is a lifestyle color. This is Greenery.
The Color of the Year was influenced by Vivienne Westwood’s minimalistic approach that is becoming popular. This trend of straying away from fast-fashion in order to build a closet that is both versatile and sustainable has grown rapidly in the past few years. Common stores known for their quick turnarounds are even starting to form eco-friendly lines of clothing like H&M’s new “Conscious – Sustainable Style” collection.
“There’s a growing desire to reconnect with Nature and what is real and find ways to disconnect from technology. We need a break. We need to stop and breathe,” Laurie Pressman, the Pantone Color Institute’s vice president, told to FORBES. “(Greenery) is about unity and community—connecting to oneself and others and a higher purpose, Nature.”
After a season of subdued colors and a wardrobe full of neutrals, every girl should adopt this pop of color in her life. In addition to the ever-present Baylor gear, you’ll find greenery throughout the store. The Urban Nest, located near the right wall of the Spice Village, near Spraytopia, has a great selection of green plants that will liven up any living area. Small succulents can be found in various forms from faux geraniums in Kat’s Crafts to salt and pepper shakers in Grae’s home décor shop. In this section of Grae, you’ll currently find cacti and green on pillows, prints, and even small decorative cacti. You’ll find sprigs of artificial plants in Gable Hills Collection, Tradinghouse Design Co., and Bee Angels
Other shops sporting the color green right now are the Junky Monkey and Mae & Me. The color Greenery is a great addition that will go perfectly with any room or outfit. Come visit Spice Village in downtown Waco today to add some greenery and SPICE to your life!
